What kind of school was REALM?

A public charter middle and high school in West Berkeley, California, authorised by the Berkeley Unified School District. It was tuition-free, as California charter schools are.

What did "project-based" mean in practice?

Academic content was taught inside extended projects rather than beside them. A project ran for weeks, addressed a question without a settled answer, and ended in something shown publicly. See what project-based learning requires.

Was Studio H part of the school?

Yes. Studio H was a design-build class that ran inside REALM from 2012 until the school closed. It is described on the Studio H page.

Can a student enrol?

No. The school closed in June 2019. Berkeley families should contact the Berkeley Unified School District directly about enrolment.
